Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager - EMEA Truck Freight Procurement (m/f/d)

• Drive strategic sourcing projects for major subcategories of logistics spend specifically within ground transportation. These subcategories may include some or all of the following: road freight, intermodal transport, equipment leases, project freight, rail freight and bulk transport.

• Identify and select approved suppliers capable of providing services solutions that meet established business requirements.

• Host logistics eAuctions as well as conduct contract pricing and terms negotiations. Manage contracts to ensure complete, continuous coverage for needed services.

• Support implementation of agreements with strategic suppliers in accordance with stated goals.

• Work with legal, risk management and sourcing representatives to maintain important documents, policies, procedures and systems.

• Be a COE focal point in certain corporate negotiations and act as subject matter expert for the EMEA Trucking Category providing knowledge and insights to internal clients on market fundamentals, industry trends, supply/supplier base, benchmarking, and best practices

• Support the refresh of logistics and sourcing AOPs and strategic plans.

• Drive strategies that improve working capital, promote supply base rationalization and process improvement and productivity.

• Work with logistics operations managers to achieve lowest total costs, continuous quality improvement, and on time delivery.

• Work with other commodity/sourcing managers to assure a coordinated category strategy exists across for the enterprise across EMEA and around the world.  

  • The effectiveness of this role is measured annually against productivity, working capital improvements and supply base reduction whilst maintaining quality services.

25% Contract negotiations and administration

25% Internal updates, reporting (routing data collection from carriers) and stakeholder management

10% Support function for TMS roll out in your area of spend

10% Prepare and Lead Regional Business Reviews for strategic regional partners and lite processes for tactical partners

5% General activities including industry research, problem resolution, training, and ad hoc activities

QUALIFICATION:

Bachelor’s degree.

At least two years work experience sourcing logistics.

Well-developed problem solving and decision-making abilities.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Word.

  

WE VALUE:

Masters preferred but not required.

Prefer six or more years work experience in procurement or logistics.

6 Sigma/ PMP trained.

Proven negotiating skills.

Proactive approach to business and team opportunities.

Fully conversant with transportation management system, TMC preferable

Working knowledge in German language / English language skills required
