Clinical Research Assistant II

 The Division of Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant II to work as a team member on a pilot project with Boston Children’s Hospital Accountable Care Organization (ACO) addressing social determinants of health for primary care teens and young adults, and their families.
The person in this position will work with an interdisciplinary team in the Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine Clinic, ACO staff, and other primary care research assistants to help ensure patient families have stable, healthy housing; access to nutrition resources; and receive all benefits and community resources available to them.

This Clinical Research Assistant II will be responsible for: 
  • Consent and recruit patients for research studies through personal interviews and written communications with patients/families. 
  • Provide detailed background information regarding studies to families, communicate all policies and procedures, and respond to all inquiries. 
  • Evaluate suitability of prospective study candidates and make selections based upon clinical knowledge of each study
  • Serve as liaison to the families/patients in the research studies, conducted at both on-site and off-site locations, guiding and advising them throughout each phase of the study. 
  • Coordinate follow-up visits as necessary. 
  •  Act as a resource to study participants, addressing any concerns they may have. 
  • Troubleshoot resolution of any issues that may arise throughout the study
  • Coordinate and prepare the necessary documentation for Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Committee on Clinical Investigations (CCI) submissions, together with the Private Investigator of the study
  • Create and prepare data collection statistical reports and analytical summaries for distribution to study research team for review and analysis. 
  • Write articles and summary papers of studies for submission to medical journals
  • Participate in the training of newly hired research study assistants
  • Coordinate activities between the hospital and research laboratories to ensure correct testing/processing and send out instructions specific to the study. 
  • Communicate project policies and procedures to personnel. 
  • Monitor and review data collection and data entry, and informed consent procedures - ensuring consistency of application for each study
  • Perform other miscellaneous administrative duties 

To qualify, you must have
  • The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in a related science and one year of related work experience.


During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.
