Aerospace
Honeywell Aerospace innovates and integrates thousands of products, software, and services to advance and more easily deliver safe, efficient, productive, and comfortable transportation experiences worldwide.  Their offerings are found on virtually every commercial, defense and space aircraft. 2019 revenues for Aerospace are around 12B.

The Role
Reporting to the VP ­Aero Technology Strategy and Innovation, this position is responsible for leading the academic and scientific engagement and partnership strategy that will strengthen our technology capabilities and accelerate our innovation process at the Aerospace level. 

Role Location
The role will be based in Phoenix, AZ or Minneapolis, MN.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the Aerospace Sr. Director Academic & Scientific Partnerships include:

  • Build and maintain relationships with universities, national laboratories, and research institutes
  • Support technology strategy development process with advanced technology and business units
  • Develop and own scientific engagements strategy and roadmap
  • Drive regular innovation workshops with scientific partners
  • Execute monthly and quarterly program reviews with partners on joint programs
  • Support public funding acquisition on joint programs
  • Represent Honeywell Aerospace in public and government technology events

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering - Mechanical, Electrical / Aviation or Aerospace
  • 15+ years of experience in Applied and/or New Product or Technology Development
  • 5+ relevant years of experience in Avionics (Electronics & Mechanical Subsystems) technology AND/OR materials technology development
  • 5+ years of Technology & Product Development experience
  • 5+ years of domain experience & exposure in the Aerospace industry (Avionics, Mechanical & Connectivity), including standards and regulations
  • 5+ years of experience with Hardware, Firmware, and Software experience plus Physical products connectivity to the Cloud
  • 5+ years of experience and understanding of regulatory agencies (FAA), standards, mandates, and environments
  • Highly networked in academic and national lab environments in the Aerospace industry
  • Experienced in technology transfer from academic institutions to a commercial entity

WE VALUE

  • An Advanced degree in Engineering – Masters / PhD
  • Experience working with an Engineering organization with a global footprint AND/OR experience managing RDE spend >100M
  • Experience working with globally distributed teams serving both global OEM’s, After Market and Airlines
  • Strong Engineering Product Development Practices, Processes and Tools
  • Experience leading product strategy transformation and acted as evangelist for change
  • Experienced in setting up, managing industrial advisory boards, incubation spaces
  • International experience
  • Strong organizational understanding of the Aerospace industry
  • Being an internal and external networker with government agencies, universities, and internal stakeholders
  • Have strong understanding of venture capital, start-up operations, and Intellectual property frameworks
  • Being able to focus globally and be strategic with methods
