Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a GN&C Subsystem Engineering Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This leadership role will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here.  Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What you will get to do: 

This role will lead a small team of system engineers who will continue to mature the Guidance System’s system engineering products from Preliminary Design phase to a Critical Design Review and beyond. The role includes leading a team performing a fully immersed Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach to systems engineering as well as performing the hands-on work. Individual will be responsible for ensuring the execution and quality of the Guidance element’s system engineering products, as well at its subsystems’, acting as the liaison between System and Segment level system engineering leadership and the Guidance IPT, maturing Guidance element requirement specifications, interface control documents (ICDs) and system architecture definition as well as ensuring vertical and horizontal integration of the Guidance system requirements, interfaces and design. Individual must be capable of leading a team in a highly dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities.

 These positions will have a standard work schedule of 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Qualifications - ExternalBasic Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science in STEM with 7 years of related experience with Bachelor’s; 5 years with Master’s; 3 years with PhD  

Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain SAP

3 years of experience with Model Based Systems Engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience having implemented system architecture definition using UPDM and/or SysML in an MBSE tool such as MagicDraw (Cameo Enterprise Architect), Rhapsody, CORE etc.

Mature requirements definition experience including definition of verification plans

Familiarity or experience with MagicDraw / Cameo EA

Experience developing ICDs and defining interfaces in an MBSE environment

Experience working in an Agile team or even leading a scrum team

Understanding of GN&C algorithms and flight critical software development

Understanding of the following specialty areas: nuclear surety, cybersecurity, flight safety

Top Secret security clearance

Work experience in one of the following disciplines: guidance & control systems, inertial sensors, navigation systems or vehicle management systems

Effective leadership skills
