ManTech is seeking a motivated, mission oriented Cyber Defense Counter Measure Expert in the National Capitol Region (NCR) area to provide unparalleled support to our customer.  The Cyber Defense Counter Measure Expert will perform assessments of systems and networks and identify where those systems/networks deviate from acceptable configurations or policies. The Cyber Defense Counter Measure Expert will implement and conduct engineering activities in accordance with the organization's relevant approved processes, technical operations, and strategic vision. The position is responsible for the technical management, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting, of enterprise-wide monitoring systems, applications and related infrastructure; ensuring that any issues that may adversely impact the confidentiality, integrity or availability of computing resources are identified, properly alerted and promptly resolved.  

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the principle technical advisor and subject matter expert for Cyber Network Defense (CND) countermeasure services.
  • Expertise in enterprise defensive countermeasures and the incident detection process, particularly incident indicators, and countermeasures.
  • Understanding of the utilization, configuration, and implementation of industry standard cyber defense capabilities including but not limited to web content filters, email security capabilities, Intrusion Detection System (IDS), Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), Host Based Security System (HBSS), Security Information and Event Management (SEIM), Domain Name System (DNS) security practices, advanced log analysis, network monitoring, network flow analysis, packet capture analysis, network proxies, firewalls, anti-virus capabilities, Linux/UNIX command line, and access control lists.
  • Knowledge of the lifecycle of network threats, attack vectors, and methods of exploitation
  • Expertise with the incident response process in accordance with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Manual (CJCSM) 6510.01 and other applicable DoD/IC directives and policies
  • In depth understanding of the incident response processes and procedures to aid in the facilitation of comprehensive procedures for collaboration and Implementation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least nine (9) years’ experience in knowledge management, or similar field.
  • Must meet DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification requirements consisting of one of the following: CCNA Security, CySA+ (previously listed as CSA+), GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, or SSCP.
  • Practical experience in infrastructure administration (Linux, networking, Windows, firewalls).
  • Must possess well-developed verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Splunk training and/or certifications.
  • Experience performing the role 8570.01-M, Computer Network Defense Infrastructure Support (CND-IS).
  • CND-IS (Infrastructure Support) certification.
  • IAT Level III Certification (CASP+ CE; CCNP Security; CISA; CISSP [or Associate]; GCED; GCIH, CCSP).
  • Host Based Security System (HBSS) training or experience.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Current TS/SCI clearance with a Polygraph or ability to obtain a Polygraph before starting employment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
