Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Quality Engineer to join our team in Baltimore, Maryland. Some of the roles and responsibilities for this role are:
  • Perform production floor activities associated with quality, production, and test activities, while assisting in the corrective action board (CAB) including data gathering and analysis
  • Participate in the disposition of parts and processing nonconforming material to facilitate the production process, interfacing with both internal and external customers
  • Develop, modify, apply and maintain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Design Engineering, Supplier Quality, and other manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place and maintained
  • Design and analyze inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment
  • Assess impact on hardware quality and inspection process while examining manufacturability of various part requests
  • Support the Inspection Team by ensuring contractual quality requirements are flowed down to the cell, clarifying drawing and other build documentation questions
  • Perform floor assessments and audits while collaborating with the compliance team.
  • Possess technical knowledge in specifications/standards, drawing interpretation, measurement and analysis methods, process and product assessments, and corrective action methodology
  • Possess the ability to apply technical standards, scientific principles, theories and concepts
  • Use LEAN and Six Sigma tools to eliminate waste and reduce process variation
  • Collect, analyze, organize and present data and have excellent MS Office Application skills

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Quality Engineer:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or equivalent STEM discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in a Mechanical Manufacturing/Machining environment.
  • Possess technical knowledge in quality specifications and standards.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. US Citizenship required.
Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Quality Engineer:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or equivalent STEM discipline.
  • 9+ years of relevant work experience in a Mechanical Manufacturing/Machining environment.
  • Possess technical knowledge in quality specifications and standards.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. US Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications for Both Levels:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials, Aerospace, Civil, Electrical Engineering
  • Master's degree in STEM discipline.
  • PCDMIS CMM programming experience.
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Certification in a Method.
  • Additive Manufacturing or Brazing experience.
  • Quality related experience in the following processes: machining, sheet metal, welding, finishing, mechanical assembly.
  • Knowledge of NX / CAD / Teamcenter
  • Training in LEAN, Six Sigma, and CI methodologies, Certified Green or Black Belt.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 and internal auditing
  • Experience in a DoD Manufacturing environment.
  • Drawing interpretation and ANSI Y14.5 requirements experience
