Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Engineering Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA.

This position is for a Section Manager for the Palmdale Special Programs Structural Design engineering organization reporting to the Vehicle Design Engineering Department Manager, Palmdale Aircraft Integration Center of Excellence. The SM will lead a growing team of Structural Design engineers and will be responsible for leading all managerial tasks relevant to Vehicle Engineering. The section manager will work 80% of their time in the Structural Design Vehicle Engineering disciplines, as directed by the Vehicle Engineering program IPT Lead. The manager will be responsible for establishing, maintaining, and facilitating communications, tasking, scheduling, and technical reviews with each individual contributor’s execution lead in Palmdale, CA.

For functional home room support, approximately 20% of the SM’s time will be focused on recruiting, staffing, retaining talent, weekly team meetings, bi-weekly 1:1 meetings, and holding performance review discussions. Supporting the VE Design Engineering Department Manager on the NGAS Community of Practice will be expected.

Basic Qualifications:

•ABET accredited Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline along with 9 years' relevant experience; OR a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline with 7 years of relevant experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 4 years of relevant experience.

•Demonstrated excellence in a vehicle engineering field such as structural design and/or sub-systems design

• Experience with Geometric, Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

• Experience in a technical leadership/management role.

• Experience with BTP development, applicable notes, BOM, sign-off process.

• Experience with CPLM, Teamcenter, FiberSIM, CATIA V5 and/or NX-CAD.

• Current Active In-Scope DOD Secret with the ability to obtain special program access within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the business to meet its needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Experience leading an engineering team within a fast-paced, manufacturing environment.

•Experience working Special Access Programs

•Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively interact with the customer and program management.

•Top Secret clearance
