At Applied Materials, our innovations make possible the technology shaping the future.  As a Systems Engineer V, you will lead and execute Plasma Etch system projects that may have a mix of mechanical, electrical, physics, control system and materials compatibility with common etch chemistries.  Will be an Etch system expert in the business unit applying experience and knowledge with Etch systems to a novel system architecture.  Should be able to anticipate technical challenges and will contribute to the architecture strategy. Will manage implementation of system upgrades to fielded systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with marketing/management to understand system requirements
  • Ensure designs meet market requirement specifications (MRS)
  • Provide input at design review to ensure HW/SW specifications are met
  • Problem identification & troubleshooting a wide range of difficult, complex engineering problems in field of technical expertise, including serviceability and manufacturability
  • Be able to chair architecture brainstorming meetings and drive the systems process to down select to a final architecture of a top-level system
  • Support system integration during the assembly and final testing of new product designs
  • Provide remote and onsite support to field support personnel as required
  • Interface with other groups to workout design, systems architecture development and integration issues
  • Write detailed specifications that cover all aspects of subsystem modules
  • Define all equipment interfaces and systems architecture and insure they are up to date and documented
  • Work with suppliers to develop new competitive products, including development of key suppliers

  • Off-hours work at times to support activities in different time zones.

Requirements:

Education: BS in ME, EE, ChemE, Mat Sci, or related area.  Advanced degree preferred.  

Experience: 7-12+ Years of experience in semiconductor, etch system experience preferably at an etch system supplier

US and international Travel 25-40%
