The Accounting Assistant reports to the Assistant Director of Accounting for Harvard Business School's Executive Education department and works closely with other members of the seven-person finance and accounting team. This position is responsible for the day-to-day processing of financial transactions. The Accounting Assistant will generate program invoices, process incoming payments, review staff transactions in the University Purchasing Card system, and facilitate vendor invoice payments in the University's payables system. This position will assist with monthly and quarterly accounting closes, including preparing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and auditing system transactions. Other responsibilities include answering finance-related inquiries from program participants and Executive Education staff members, and coordinating with military veteran participants pursuing GI Bill education funding assistance. The Accounting Assistant will perform other related job duties, as required. During the current period of COVID-19 related restrictions, this position may start as a remote position with the transition to onsite at HBS campus in Boston, MA when the office reopens. Salary Grade: 053 Union: 55 - Hvd Union Cler & Tech Workers Three or more years of related experience is required Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and working in databases required. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred. Experience with Salesforce a plus. Other Attributes: High quality standards and a keen attention to detail. Organized, flexible, and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Excellent customer service skills. Able to handle confidential information with discretion.
