In support of the vision of the Dean and the Associate Dean for the Gould School of Law to deepen affinity among our alumni, resulting in a robust pipeline of philanthropic support at all levels, the Engagement Manager will assist the Director of Annual Giving in strategically engaging leadership level annual fund donors and younger alumni who have long-term potential to give major and planned gifts. The Engagement Manager will be a pivotal position that will fill a gap in our alumni engagement and enable personal outreach to key influencers who require a managed relationship but who are not yet in a position to give a major gift. Job Accountabilities and Organization Support: Carry a portfolio of 120-130 alumni, half of whom can offer time, talent and connections, but may not yet be leadership annual giving or major gift donors. The other half will be annual leadership level donors. Create annual strategies and engagement opportunities for each of the alumni in the portfolio. Secure face-to-face visits with the entire portfolio 2-3 times a year to cultivate and engage alumni with the school. Partner with the Director of Annual Giving, the Director of Alumni Relations and the major gift team to continually identify additional alumni needing personal relationship management to deepen their affinity for future pipeline development. Target annual leadership level donors, younger alumni leaders who are not yet annual leadership or major gift donors but may have potential in 5-15 years, and/or alumni who are connectors who can identify other alumni who may have potential to support the school. Partner with Director of Annual Giving to solicit alumni for new or renewed annual leadership level gifts. Partner with Alumni Relations team and other Gould departments such as Admissions, Career Services, Academic Services and Communications to identify ways to engage alumni in meaningful volunteer opportunities. These opportunities may include but not be limited to mentoring students, serving as an admissions ambassador, participating on a professional panel, leading a workshop or being featured in articles. Maintain a high degree of proficiency with Salesforce (Central University development database) to identify and select alumni for connections, update information and input content of visits. Act as a trusted and experienced resource to development and alumni colleagues. Demonstrate strong relationship building and entrepreneurial skills, an ability to authentically engage with alumni across decades and a variety of backgrounds, and demonstrate consistent follow-through. Required Skills: A basic knowledge of fundraising, volunteer management and alumni relations. Work or volunteer experience of at least 2 years in related fields. Superior written, interpersonal, and verbal skills. Ability to understand people from a variety of backgrounds, engage/connect authentically with alumni across decades. Innate diplomacy and ability to persevere. High level of sensitivity to customer relations. Demonstrated success in managing and motivating volunteers. Self-motivated. Entrepreneurial. Highly organized and detail oriented. Ability to act decisively and to maintain flexibility. Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work cooperatively to achieve common goals while continuously upgrading standards to maintain quality in all areas of responsibility. Ability to work evenings and weekends. A sense of humor and belief in the value of collaborative colleagueship. Experience with customer relationship management databases, preferably Salesforce. Proficiency with Excel and Word. The ideal candidate will have: Work or volunteer experience of at least 2 years in fundraising, volunteer management and/or alumni relations.   Preferred work experience in education/higher education. Demonstrated knowledge of basic fundraising methodology.
