We are looking for a Principal Member of Technical Staff to join our Data Engineering team within our (athena.intelligence) division. But enough about us, let's talk about you.

  • A database expert, passionate about data, helping our data scientists, analysts, and customer success teams make sense of giant healthcare delivery data sets;

The Team: Our Data Engineering team runs the core analytics data warehouse for athenahealth. Our work is central to helping our data scientists make sense of healthcare data; providing insight to our finance and accounting colleagues on the company's operational performance; and assist our customer success teams deliver unparalleled service.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the athena.intelligence team in the areas of cloud and on-premise database engines and software engineering
  • Hands-on contribution to ETL and Data Validation frameworks in python, perl, as well as SQL
  • Ensure that our data and infrastructure maintains the best practices for ensuring PHI/PII security and as well as availability

Typical Qualifications
  • 8+ years experience working with big data, including highly transactional, on-premise, and cloud-based environments
  • Strong understanding of database engines including relational databases (Oracle, Informix, Postgres) and cloud-based warehouses (Snowflake)
  • Strong, demonstrated proficiency coding in highly performant SQL as well as in Perl
  • Experience working with AWS
  • Healthcare experience is a plus
