Requisition Number: S_210398 Department: Special Ed & Communic Disorders-1049 Description of Work: The position of Medical Billing Coding Specialist is responsible for researching Medicare and Medicaid rules and regulations and monitoring current state and federal laws to ensure the department is in compliance. Enroll providers in Medicare and Medicaid. Maintain credentialing paperwork for providers and business associate agreements. Train and update staff and faculty on Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance changes as it relates to billing rules, documentation requirements, fee changes, codes, billing insurance, and the follow-up claims for audiology and speech-language pathology. Manage electronic billing and claims submission process. Collect, post, and deposit monies. Follow claims that have been paid or denied and submit to second and third-party payers. Communicate with families, guardians, agencies, and providers regarding the status of client accounts. Determine continued eligibility for reduced fees and services based on account status. Collection of past-due account. Maintain records for reduced fee rates, ICD -10 and CPT codes, and record of sales tax. Prepare monthly and year-end financial reports for submission to the college Business Center. Serve as back-up to patient care associate. Experience with Medicaid and Medicare billing and coding; or equivalent education/experience. Knowledge of current Medicare/Medicaid and insurance regulations for billing, coding, and provider qualifications necessary. Experience must demonstrate excellent communication (both written and oral) and organizational skills. Proficiency with word processing and database software essential. Detail-oriented. Self-starter and able to work independently. High-stress tolerance. Excellent problem solving and creative thinking skills, related to accomplishing work tasks. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or equivalent experience. Experience working with billing and coding within rehabilitative therapy. Knowledge of billing coding, and credentialing within the rehabilitative fields (e.g., OT, PT, ST) preferred. Completion of courses or in-services regarding billing and coding helpful. Medical Coding and billing certification desirable. Posted Salary: $16.00/hr minimum Job Type: Full-Time
