Operating Room - CSS Liaison - 2101987 Position Summary At Stony Brook Medicine, an Operating Room -CSS Liasion is a valuable member of our team, who functions as the point person for the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). This individual is responsible for resolving day to day issues from the OR as they relate to the SPD. They interact with surgeons, OR RNs, Surgical Techs, OR Management, and the SPD staff; communicating recommendations, problem solving strategies, quality improvement initiatives. Duties of an Operating Room - CSS Liasion may include but are not limited to the following: Review the surgical schedule and ensure, together with the Service Clinicians and OR coordinators, that all scheduled cases have the accurate PL/case carts. Keep track of case throughput throughout the day, monitor instrument needs and notify SPD staff of deficiencies, additional and emergent instrument needs. Plan and coordinate instrument turnarounds with SPD personnel. Continuously communicate information to the surgical team to facilitate "on-time" surgical starts. Communicate daily to designated personnel on various shifts, providing necessary information to ensure completion of work and efficient operation of the departments. Performs the duties of a Certified Surgical Technologist as needed. Follows guidelines, policy and procedure of the unit, department and hospital. Follows recommended standard practices and remain current with AORN, AAMI, CDC, manufacturers and hospital procedures. Maintains records of IUSS, in compliance with regulatory requirements. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: High School Graduate with prior or current work experience in the Sterile Processing Department. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program. Current ST certification (AST) required. Minimum of 5 years recent work experience as a Surgical Technologist. Preferred Qualifications: Current Central Service Technician certification (CRCST) preferred. Special Notes: Resume/CV and cover letter should be included with the online application.
