ManTech is seeking a full-time Systems Engineer to support new entrant certification of the Vulcan launch vehicle system.  This position supports the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) at Los Angeles Air Force Base. The candidate will support systems engineering responsibilities and activities of the non-recurring design validation.

Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Preferred

Location: El Segundo, CA

The Aerospace Systems Engineer will:

  • Implement Systems Engineering best practices to identify, track, and validate certification requirements and Launch Service Provider compliance.
  • Support development and execution of systems engineering certification audits and reports.
  • Interfaces with certification representatives to include USAF and, United Launch Alliance
  • Assist in maintaining situational awareness of certification progress and metrics through creating and presenting summary briefings and leveraging status tracking tools
  • Capture and report certification 'lessons learned'
  • Work with customer teams in accomplishing systems engineering tasks and activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in a STEM Discipline
  • 10 years of systems engineering experience in development of launch vehicle/space systems; will consider less experience in lieu of advanced degrees (8 years with MS, 6 with PhD)
  • Experience working in and leading multi-disciplined teams of engineers
  • Ability to travel up to 25% time.
  • US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with MS Office tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Current active DoD Secret Clearance or higher

Physical Requirements:

  • ​Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time
  • Position requires to move about inside an office to access office machinery
  • Position may require frequent communication with co-workers, management and customers and may be required to deliver presentations.
