Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented C-5M Research Scientist/Engineer to join our team in Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio.   

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement new C-5M aircraft research objectives, establish project priorities, define methods of approach and execute the study. 
  • Provide scientific conclusions and interpretations.  Responsible for innovative use of scientific research concepts, principles, and practices and contributes to advanced methods and techniques on Technical Area Tasks. 
  • Applies their expertise and knowledge to C-5M technical projects, finding innovative, cost-effective means to improve research, techniques, procedures, and/or products and technologies. 
  • Provides research engineering, technical, and managerial direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development and implementation for complex systems in the engineering discipline
  • Develop, conduct and evaluate new approaches to meet technical requirements faster and more efficiently. 
  • Makes recommendations and advises on research development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts.
  • Performs risk assessments and innovative use of new research concepts or improved techniques and procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have at least 5-12 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Expertise and outstanding knowledge and competence in one or more specific technical focus areas.
  • Familiar with the C-5M aircraft or other USAF heavy wide-bodied aircraft.
  • Understands the sustainment and lifecycle management of the C-5M aircraft in concert with the Air Force Sustainment Center’s (AFSC) Air Logistics Complexes (ALC).
  • Understands the underlying principles of system security and assurance; planning, and development; and risk management to facilitate the development, implementation, and execution of modernization and sustainment activities that support the Reliability, Maintainability, Quality, Supportability, and Interoperability. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer a MS technical degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Systems, Mechanical, Avionics, Reliability, Logistics, Material, or Computer Engineering or Science.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • DOD Secret Clearance required

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
