The primary function for this position is to lead the global Torque Control engineering team. This organization develops traction modifying devices and technologies for specific customer programs around the globe and brings them to market within the required timeframe. The position manages all global engineering resources for the Torque product line, including new product development, new technology development, current product support, vehicle dynamics, systems, controls, and design.

The Global Torque Engineering Manager is responsible for the implementation of strategic and operational guidelines for the division:

+ Monitor performance of global product engineering to assure that current product support, future product development, and technical support for customers are addressed

+ Manage engineering resources required to introduce and validate new products, ensuring manufacturability is attained while maintaining product design integrity

+ Manage concept, research and development of torque modifying products for use around the world

+ Assure that efforts to improve the efficiency of the product engineering functions are emphasized through organizational alignment, effective use of engineering tools, appropriate and continuous improvement

+ Assure appropriate product documentation, design standards, and material related specifications are developed to support current and future product development activities

+ Monitor industrial and technological changes in order to identify potential product improvement and/or cost reduction opportunities

+ Interface with Marketing, Quality, Manufacturing, and Sales personnel to ensure product development programs are consistent with company goals and priorities

+ Contribute to the global strategic planning and profit planning processes, and project monthly rolling forecasts as appropriate

+ Manage the relationship and performance of the CoEs providing lab and analytical support

+ Build and maintain relationships with engineering leaders at the customer

This position is also responsible for leading the engineering team in terms of functional excellence and talent initiatives. These activities include:

+ Building organizational capability for the global Torque engineering function

+ Assure deployment and effective use of the latest engineering tools, processes and systems

+ Application and customization of the Engineering Maturity Model to the particular teams and identification of gaps and action plans

+ Follow-up of action plans progress and tracking of metrics results

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

+ Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution

+ Minimum of 10 years of related industrial experience with responsibility in product development and/or applications engineering

+ Minimum of 3 years of experience managing people

+ Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

+ Fluency in English (written and verbal)

Preferred Qualifications

+ Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Business

+ At least 5 years of systems, software, and controls experience

+ Large-scale cross functional project team management experience

+ Knowledge of automotive markets and global trends

+ Knowledge of driveline technology, vehicle application expertise and differential design

+ Previous work experience within a global and matrixed business environment

+ DFSS greenbelt or blackbelt certification
