The DEI Coordinator will be a community builder and program leader who develops strong relationships with students, faculty/staff and other constituents to foster a sense of belonging and enhance the supportive environment at the CVM. The DEI Coordinator will work to strengthen awareness and dialogue and build effective programs and practices. This position reports to the Assistant Dean for Inclusion and Academic Excellence. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Support Creates and coordinates communication and distribution of resources with internal and external stakeholders in support of the Office of Inclusion and Academic Excellence (OIAE) activities, including managing DEI resources available on the Learning Center and intranet. Curates digital Content (Website, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook). Recommended posts for social media engagement related to DEI and collaborates with marketing to capitalize on social media accounts and influencers to drive internal and external awareness and support. Assists with the creation of presentation and training materials to support DEI efforts. May lead meetings in support of program. Supports development, reporting, and forecast of metrics for DEI program and activities. Will participate in quarterly and annual reporting requirements Occasionally works special events outside of normal business hours internal and external to Cornell University, the CVM and New York State Coordinate programming related to DEI initiatives Organize attendance at conferences and workshops Support institutional efforts related to DEI, in alignment with the DEI mission and Strategic Plan Coordinate and assist with faculty and staff professional development around diversity, equity, and inclusion Provide faculty and staff with multicultural educational resources to support them in their work Catalog DEI articles and most current research and resources related to Collect and track relevant data associated with DEI initiatives Acting as first line of support for the various DEI groups and task forces to assist them in completing their objectives and deliverables. Coordinating the effective scheduling of complex meetings and retreats, which may require coordination across the development community, anticipating needs and exercising discretion and judgment as top priorities. Coordinating multiple input requests from university (e.g., collecting information for assessment and planning purposes, drafting documents for review, etc.) Coordinating training needs (material prep, communication reminders, room scheduling, etc.) Project coordination around action items detailed in the OIAE strategic plan. Event design and coordination including attendee guest list, calendaring, catering, room reservation and set up (tables/chairs, technology, etc.), note taking, etc. DEI Communication, Stewardship, and Reporting Measure and forecast diversity metrics In collaboration with the CVM Marketing & Communications team, coordinate and create materials and communications, annual report to keep staff updated on DEI progress and activities. Track all DEI related fundraising and programmatic activities Lead and implement DEI strategic plan updates. General Administrative Support Managing schedule for Director (e.g., communication, meeting requests). Prepping materials needed by Director daily. Other administrative duties as assigned. Administrative support for DEI Committees, Taskforce, Leadership Council, and cultural giving networks (e.g., scheduling, reserving room, prepping materials, note taking, follow up, etc.) Administrative support for DEI internal working group and staff affinity groups (e.g., scheduling, reserving room, prepping materials, note taking, follow up, etc.) Manages and responds to internal inquiries about DEI initiatives and activities. Coordinates administrative needs for DEI program, including meeting set up, material prep, communication reminders, vendors, and employee activities. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two to four years progressively responsible administrative support experience, preferably in a fundraising environment. Project coordination experience. Deep commitment to and demonstrated success discussing, integrating, and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout a complex and dynamic organization. As DEI Program Coordinator, you will report to the Assistant Dean of Inclusion and academic Excellence. The Coordinator also provides general administrative support for the Director Must be a self-motivated, highly dependable independent worker with the ability to efficiently and effectively prioritize work and problem solve without direct supervision. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet challenging and changing deadlines. Excellent skills in the use of Google and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written), sound organizational abilities, a high level of sophistication and maturity in social and professional settings, and a high degree of creative initiative. Experience in creating databases and generating reports from a variety of internal databases. Close familiarity with and commitment to higher education preferred. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a team environment. Discretion and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Comfort with personal computers and software programs for retrieving, organizing and researching data gathering and manipulation. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES: Knowledge and understanding of the issues surrounding access, equity, diversity, inclusion, implicit bias and systemic racism. Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills. Experience in working effectively and influencing decision makers with a variety of personalities in a fast-paced, progressive environment. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a timely manner. Careful attention to detail, accuracy in performing job duties and acts with a sense of urgency. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Well-developed personal computer skills using internet, and MS Office programs. Adept at excel and experienced in translating data into meaningful charts and dashboards. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to maintain professionalism and a positive outlook. Polished, professional, and effective presentation skills for all audiences and levels within and outside the organization.
