Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary: 

This position is responsible for evolving, building, managing, and supporting a Data Platform ecosystem (Hadoop, Kafka, Elasticsearch) designed for enterprise-wide analysis of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide support for large scale Hadoop, Elasticsearch, and Kafka clusters across multiple environments 
  • Design and build software solutions to support BigData Platforms and Developer community 
  • Involved in all aspects of design, automating, and deploying software products into both on-prem linux environments and Cloud
  •  Manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and 7 systems 
  • Use DevOps and Automation to manage software solutions 
  • Cloudera or Open source Big Data platform management, including the following tools: Hadoop, HDFS, HBase, Map Reduce, Yarn, Spark, Pig, Hive, Elasticsearch, Solr, Impala, Kafka, Flume 
  • Working with multiple teams and colleagues at every level of the organization to manage and support software platforms 
  • Drive monitoring and alerting requirements/implementation using SRE principals across components 
  • Develop configuration management processes for environments using Ansible
  • Collaborate with and mentor members of the team and other coworkers 

Skills: 

  • Demonstrable experience with DevOps tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet 
  • Understanding Agile methodologies and scrum development
  • Familiarity with SRE Principals and how to apply 
  • Solid understanding of Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, and Continuous Deployment principles and prior experience with big data platforms like Cloudera, or Cloud. 
  • Experience with using and/or building restful APIs 
  • Experience with Hashicorp Stack: Consul, Vault, Terraform, Nomad 
  • Experience with support large software systems or platforms providing service to it's users
  • Hands on experience in troubleshooting problems in the BigData stack and experience with Hadoop, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Hive, Impala
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse and distributed product teams in an agile environment 
  • Proficient in one or more programming and/or scripting languages: java, scala, python, bash, C# 

Qualifications 

  • BS Degree is preferred 
  • 5+ years of IT experience 
  • 5+ years of Software Engineering Experience 
  • 3-5 years overall experience in Linux systems and Linux Adminstration
  •  1-2 years of experience in deploying, automating, monitoring, and administering Data Platforms: Hadoop, Kafka, Elastic, Cloud 
  • Well versed in installing & managing large scale Data Platforms (Hadoop, Kafka, Elastic etc.)
  • Knowledge in performance and application debugging and troubleshooting
