This position assists with leading a large Production unit. Provides technical, logistical and administrative support to the Production Manager for the efficient and cost effective management of track maintenance and/or construction projects.


This position requires overnight working hours.

• Ensures all track projects are initiated using the FRA and Engineering Department’s guidelines, and track maintenance and/or construction programs support schedule and maintain a safe and dependable environment for all train operations.  
• Must be intricately involved in the development of work activities, funding, spend plan and the project schedule.  
• Coordinate track maintenance and construction projects with other departments, and schedule appropriate labor force levels. 
• Monitor track inspection periodically to ensure all Federal and Amtrak requirements are being met by track inspectors.
• Efficiently plan work and allocate resources to ensure timely accomplishment of tasks.
• Inspect production gang work and track construction projects to ensure quality compliance.
• Ensures all aspects of the physical plant meet or exceeds current FRA standards.  
• Monitors the procurement status of all material and ensures the proper installation of materials.  
• Assists in the development of Safety Plans and Emergency Response Plans. 
• Assists in the implementation of Safety Plans for the prevention and elimination of personal injuries and hazardous conditions on the right-of-way.
• Bachelor’s Degree required OR equivalent combination of training, education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. (i.e. practical railroad experience). 

• 6 years of relevant experience required.
• Extensive experience in railroad production work, railroad operations, procedures, construction, and maintenance methods. 
• Demonstrated technical experience in track systems, policies, and procedures. 
• Demonstrated skills using PC-based spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel, Access); Microsoft Word, PowerPoint
• Demonstrated supervisory experience.
• Qualified or have the ability to be qualified in MW1000, NORAC, RWP, AMT 2, applicable FRA rules & regulations. Project Management, Microsoft Office, WEE, PC experience.



• 8+ years of relevant experience preferred.

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.


Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
