  • Supporting the US Global Banking Healthcare team (an MD and VP) covering large US headquartered clients in several key healthcare sectors (Pharma, Medical Devices, Life Sciences and Distribution). Key responsibilities include owning the credit and deal approval processes (annual reviews, new/renewal transaction applications, international facilities, client plans, capital allocation committee, profitability & pricing models). A passion for people, open communication, and building trusted relationships is critical to success in this role.


  • Develop a deep understanding of clients in the portfolio, as well as sector themes and trends, identifying key strengths and weaknesses and forming a view of these key topics.
  • Build trusted relationships with Credit / Risk officers and have the confidence to clearly and concisely articulate your point.
  • Prepare structured and focused application remarks for clients within the sector, covering new annual reviews, new deals, and renewals.
  • Work closely with the credit analysis unit to maintain a high degree of work quality, ensuring papers are tailored to the client and transaction in question.
  • Ultimately the goal is for you to own the end-to-end Credit processes.
Business Development:
  • Develop a solid understanding of the capital allocation committee process, including who the key stakeholders are, and develop strong relationships with these individuals.
  • Become an expert in developing thoughtful, strategic client plans, being equally mindful of RWA consumption and income generation. This includes building a deep knowledge of the systems required to pull the relevant MI from.
  • Become an expert in navigating the deal modelling tool, understanding the impact of the various inputs on the model, enabling swift and thoughtful origination and execution.
  • Liaise with members of the client service team (product partners and multinationals teams), ensuring a coordinated approach to enhancing the client relationship.
  • Monitor income generation and effectively manage the financial reporting and analysis for the client portfolio
  • Provide marketing support to senior relationship managers in pitching ideas, servicing client relationships and enhancing income generation.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients and internal colleagues.

Control and AML / KYC:
  • Support the Client Ops team to ensure a robust standard of AML/KYC compliance in respect of relationship on-boarding and ongoing review of client profiles.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved.
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Undertake all required activities as directed by line manager or as agreed in annual objectives in support of the advancement of the Global Banking business.

Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions

  • Strong Windows capabilities; Excel, Powerpoint, Word.
  • Ability to provide analytical support whenever needed.
  • Ability to undertake in depth review of industry, competitors, client and products and provide a high quality analysis of credit risk.
  • FINRA Series 63 and 79 licenses required. A contingency period to obtain licensing can be provided at manager's discretion.
  • Knowledge of HSBC Group systems and Global Banking processes is a plus.
