The Student Financial Aid office at SIUE is seeking a full-time Payroll Specialist III.  The selected candidate will initiate payroll records which drive the bi-weekly student payroll.  The Specialist will act as a liaison to the Payroll department in the Office of Human Resources and other outside agencies as well as aid students regarding eligibility (student employment and Federal Work Study) and various other payroll related issues. Duties will include: -Create and maintain data in the Banner system including code and maintain student personnel data? review, process, interpret, and maintain proper documentation for additions, changes or deletions to data base? verify and update data? and purge records annually. -Prepare and distribute the annual student payroll schedule. -Assist in development of payroll processes, maintain written procedures, evaluate current procedures with supervisor, and recommend changes as needed. -Provide statistical data and reports as needed and maintain ledgers for fiscal officer. -Serve as department resource person on inquiries related to employment and payroll (policies and procedures, payroll system, pay rates, hiring and termination procedures, etc.).

Additionally, the Payroll Specialist III will provide general and technical support for the student employment program and the Financial Aid Office.  Further duties and goals may be assigned in support of the department’s needs and goals.

-105 semester hours of college or university coursework with a MINIMUM of 18 semester hours in a related business curriculum (such as accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or management sciences).

-Two (2) years of vocational training in a related business curriculum (such as accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or management sciences) AND two (2) years of work experience performing payroll related duties.

        OR

-Any combination of training and experience as noted above totaling four years.
