Department: Technology & Information Services Classification: SL-3 Budget Title: Lead Programmer Analyst Duties: Information Technology Services ( ITS ) at the State University of New York at New Paltz invites applications for the position of IT Service Desk Technician. Expectations include providing technology-related support for academic equipment in classrooms, labs, and department owned areas. Duties include but not limited to: providing technical support for computers and peripheral devices via the assignment and resolution of Service Desk tickets; installing and replacing equipment; maintaining inventory and surplus equipment; developing and maintaining knowledge base articles; performing effective communications, written and oral, with clients and other ITS groups. Work as a member of the IT Service Desk, triaging incoming tickets, providing training and supervision of student workers, and utilizing them for projects and installations. Qualifications: Required: Associates degree Demonstrated ability to support windows-based systems and hardware along with their peripherals, such as scanners and local and network printers Qualified applicants must be able to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair/remedy hardware issues on a verity of desktop and laptop devices (Windows and Mac) Strong written communication, and customer service skills Excellent organizational skills Evidence of successful collaborations; ability to work independently; and ability to work as part of a team This position involves regular walking, standing and occasionally kneeling, crouching and lifting boxes up to 50 pounds Preferred: Bachelor's degree or three years of experience in technical support of higher education or business information technology systems Experience with basic network diagnostics Experience working at a service desk or other Tier 1-2 support entity Demonstrated problem solving skills Experience working with and serving diverse populations Experience with inventory management Experience training and supervising Knowledge of multi-media devices such as projectors and document cameras Special Instructions to Applicant: Electronic submission required.
