Applied Materials, Kalispell, Montana Campus,  is seeking an experienced copper plating technologist MTS (EIV), who has semiconductor industry experience and expertise in electroplating copper for interconnect applications. Successful candidates must demonstrate a balanced and in-depth technical understanding required to achieve leading edge process performance. The preferred candidate works independently with limited guidance and is highly motivated with an excellent track record of performance and innovation in the semiconductor arena. They should be able to lead functional teams or projects and exhibit a passion about developing and producing best in class products.


  • Develop and troubleshoot copper plating processes
  • Works with suppliers and customers to develop and qualify leading edge process performance
  • Collaborate with others to provide technical solutions that meet customer needs
  • Run small but complex technical projects or segments of larger technology programs
  • Determine test methodologies to evaluate new technologies and process parameters
  • Analyze data from experiments to identify technical solution paths.
  • Demonstrate a disciplined use of statistical methods to establish robust process controls and healthy process capabilities, analyze process yield, and perform experimental design and analysis.
  • Keen attention to details, with a conscious focus towards efficiency and convergence via methodologies, standardization, and proliferation of best practices across products and product segments


  • Demonstrates breadth of knowledge in copper electroplating
  • Demonstrated experience setting up and performing various experimental methods associated with such processes
  • Willingness to take responsibility and ownership to aggressively focus on problems either individually or part of a larger team.
  • Problem solving with sound logical thinking and analysis
  • Experience with statistical analysis and DOE techniques
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Able to communicate difficult concepts and negotiate with others to adopt a different point of view


  • Bachelor’s degree in related fields of chemical engineering, chemistry or material science
  • More than 4 years of industry experience working at chemical supplier, equipment supplier or chip manufacturer in electroplating of copper interconnects for the semiconductor industry.
