Job Summary:

The Operations Engineering directorate is seeking an Operations Engineering Department Manager, to support RMD___s Space Strategic Make Center, who is passionate about developing top technical talent and applying engineering practices across the manufacturing life-cycle to deliver world-class solutions to our internal and external customers.

Engineers within the Operations Engineering directorate are manufacturing domain experts across the product life cycle: They apply a variety of engineering and analytic problem solving skills in order to implement, maintain and improve manufacturing/test processes, they utilize lean principles to develop and optimize the manufacturing/test systems, they apply product and test equipment knowledge to ensure that the products are sufficiently tested and meet all requirements, they provide materials analysis and selection criteria, they provide equipment and processing support, and they leverage knowledge and technical skills to influence business decisions and results across new designs to recurring production.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

___ Lead a multi-discipline engineering department comprising of 4 sections and approximately 100 engineers (Manufacturing Engineers, Test Engineers, Project Engineers, & Industrial Engineers) who support factories and programs in Tucson (AZ) and Huntsville (AL).
___ A key leadership position within the Operations Engineering directorate and strategic partner to the Space Systems Center Operations leadership team.
___ Responsible for planning and staffing to adequately support factory and program requirements. This includes participation in recruiting and hiring events, maintaining job requisitions, and balancing staffing requirements.
___ Responsible for setting strategies and goals that align with Operations and Raytheon Missiles & Defense, including making a positive impact on factory and program performance.
___ Lead strategic initiatives and collaborate with other RMD functions to achieve company goals and objectives, including implementing manufacturing process controls and performance monitoring, and analysis and resolution to manufacturing defects.

An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: Master___s is equal to 2 years of experience or a Ph.D. is equal to 4 years of experience.

Qualifications You Must Have:

___ Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM)
___ Twelve (12) years or more related experience within an engineering, manufacturing and/or operations environment
___ Five (5) years or more of recent management experience leading a moderate size organization consisting of engineering, manufacturing and/or technical personnel
___ Experience in the application of rigorous engineering principles across the product life cycle with emphasis on the manufacturing environment
___ Technical leadership in a manufacturing setting of highly integrated systems, complex products and/or technologies from industry supply base through end-item deliveries
___ Experience building teams in any areas of managing, mentoring or providing career development to engineers at varying levels of experience
___ Experience with lean manufacturing or similar continues improvement methodologies
___ Ability to obtain and maintain an Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Access (ATF)
___ Some domestic travel maybe required
___ US Citizenship

Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:

___ Advanced Degree (MS or PhD) in related technical discipline
___ Experience with cross functional acumen in Supply Chain, Quality, and Engineering
___ Previous demonstrated leadership experiences in both Engineering and Operations organizations is highly desirable
___ Demonstrated experience in effective talent development
___ Experience in financial planning, analysis, & cost account management (overhead, cost controls)
___ Knowledge of program management tools such as earned value, basis of estimate development, and project planning
___ Knowledge in risk identification and assessment
___ Understanding of broader policies and organizations that shape manufacturing policies within the aerospace industry and Department of Defense contractors
___ Ability to effectively balance between technical design maturity and manufacturing capability
___ Experience with proposal preparation
___ Proven technical acumen in the manufacture, test and integration of complex product technologies and systems
___ Demonstrate executive presence, excellent written, verbal, and oral communication skills, solid judgment, reasoning, and decision making abilities
___ Expert knowledge of manufacturing engineering tools and processes across a product life cycle
___ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
___ Active DOD security clearance

Working Environments:

This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending time in and around factory areas.
