This position will be located in Phoenix, AZ (Deer Valley) within the Flight Systems (FS) department. The FS Flight Controls team develops state-of-the-art flight controls for military, air transport, regional, and business aircraft. This position will be part of the System Engineering team for the Compact Fly-By-Wire (CFBW) product line. Typical CFBW customers include Urban Air Mobility (UAM) & VTOL air vehicles, unmanned Cargo and Part 23 fixed-wing aircraft.

The primary responsibilities of the position are leading the development of System level architecture and requirements for various Core Flight Controls functions, as well as implementation, integration and verification activities associated with these functions. The position will also include supporting other system engineering activities such as certification activities, developing planning documents and supporting CFBW customer program teams.

Preferred candidates will have previous experience in automatic flight control system development, Fly-By-Wire, and/or avionic system development. Periodic customer and 3rd party vendor contact, and travel to support on aircraft flight testing of the system are also required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to interface with the customer, certification agencies, third party suppliers, global resources, and with peers such as hardware and software engineers.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience directly related to flight control system development/analysis
  • Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident due to export control requirements


  • Master’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering is preferred
  • Expertise in requirements development and technical writing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Extensive applicable experience with aircraft avionics development and testing
  • Leadership capability, including abilities to lead and influence technical community
  • Experience leading small teams of engineers and providing coordination/direction to larger team
  • Integration and test experience with flight control systems in a flight test environment
