As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk.

Wells Fargo Auto Originations Credit Risk Strategy team is looking for a Credit Portfolio Consultant 3 for supporting Acquisitions Credit Risk Strategy. 
Responsibilities may include (but not limited to): 

  • Develop complex code to generate in depth impact and feedback reporting for implemented strategies in support of end to end strategy change process. 
  • Leverage in depth knowledge of data and loan origination system to validate strategies implementation
  • Perform complex deep dive analysis, segmentation and/or modeling that identifies root cause for  strategy success and failures 
  • Recommend changes to risk strategies, policies and processes where appropriate based on analysis, regulatory requirements and business partner initiatives to senior management and business partners. 
  • Serve as SME business liason for auto analytical data and code repository 
  • Review, monitor and analyze trends in originations credit quality and other performance metrics for the Portfolio. Identify potential or emerging trends and analyze the impact to future portfolio performance. 
  • Collaborate with internal business partners on implementation of the policies, process improvements and strategies. 
  • Effectively communicate origination trends, analysis results and strategy recommendations to business partners and senior management. 
  • Responsible for ensuring credit policies and strategies are documented accurately
  • Create and present policy/strategy presentations to senior leadership

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in risk role
  • 1+ year of SQL or SAS experience

Desired Qualifications

  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • A Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • 4+ years of SQL or SAS experience

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 4+ years in an analytical role related to credit risk with a demonstrated analytical and quantitative problem solving skills 
  • A strong data management skill with superior programming skills in SAS/SQL 
  • An understanding of credit and loss mitigation from a full cycle perspective, including testing and controls. 
  • Understanding of both analytic/scored and judgmental decisioning environments 
  • Relationship building and ability to drive decision making through a consensus building approach
