ABOUT OUR MISSION

WHAT DOES THIS ROLE LOOK LIKE?

We are seeking a talented system safety engineer to join the Lockheed Martin specialty engineering team\. This role conducts system safety analyses and design support for a variety of missile launching system programs\. You will be involved in all aspects of the system safety programs, ensuring that safety is designed into the hardware and software of these products\.

YOU WILL HAVE A DIVERSE ARRAY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Defining hardware/software safety requirements and ensuring flow\-down into the Systems Engineering process

• Performing a variety of hazard analyses across the full product life cycle, to include Preliminary Hazard List \(PHL\), Preliminary Hazard Analysis \(PHA\), Subsystem Hazard Analysis \(SSHA\), System Hazard Analysis \(SHA\), Operating and Support Hazard Analysis \(O&SHA\), Functional Hazard Analysis \(FHA\), Software Safety Hazard Analysis, and Software Requirements Hazard Analysis\.

• Assist in reviewing engineering design specifications, test operations, change proposals, and deviation/waiver requests for safety impacts

• Participate in incident investigations and root cause/corrective action analyses

• Prepare presentations, analyses, and reports for government safety boards, program design reviews, and test/mission readiness reviews

• Some travel required to support program needs

This role is located at our facility in Moorestown, NJ and supports a program portfolio based in Baltimore, MD\. You will work collaboratively with engineers in both Moorestown, NJ and Baltimore, MD, and may work with staff from other Lockheed Martin facilities\.

**Basic Qualifications:**

\- Bachelor degree from an accredited college in an engineering or related field

\- Minimum 6 years of experience in system safety engineering, systems engineering, software engineering, or related field

\- Minimum 2 years of experience in system safety engineering

\- Familiarity with MIL\-STD\-882E and other relevant industry safety standards

\- Proficient with MS Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project

\- Ability to travel up to 20%, as required

\- Ability to work weekend and off\-shift hours, as required to support program objectives

\- U\.S\. Citizen with ability to obtain DoD Secret Level Clearance

**Desired Skills:**

\- Prior experience performing system safety engineering analyses on government or commercial development programs

\- Software system safety experience

\- Experience supporting Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board \(WSESRB\)

\- Familiarity with weapon control or fire control systems

\- Experience conducting Failure Modes and Effects Analyses \(FMEA\)
