Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Services and Systems division is currently seeking a Lead Project Manager to join our team. This position will be based out of any of these locations: Chandler, AZ, Littleton, CO, Salt Lake City, UT, San Diego, CA, Lafayette, CO, Las Vegas, NV, City of Industry, CA, Pleasanton, CA, Wilsonville, OR, Rosevile, CA, Albuquerque, NM, Boise, ID, Tukwila, WA.

Position Overview:

The Lead Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the overall management and execution of projects. The PM is charged with supporting the sales force, Power System Control Engineers and Team Leader during the entire project to ensure a seamless transition from quote into execution. They will have the discipline to create and clear an achievable cost, quality, and schedule objectives and follow these objectives through to successful completion.

The PM will also provide technical leadership to the district sales & service teams. The PM must be capable of self-managing and directing a team on awarded projects for electrical equipment, including working knowledge of low voltage and medium voltage switchgear control design & installation. The areas that will be managed include service systems integration engineering and technical consultation for customers in the areas of system design, programming, installation, start up, maintenance, repair, training and modification of automated control systems and power management systems.

Skills and responsibilities include:

+ Establishes, and manages the contract(s) between Eaton and its vendors & subcontractors

+ Plans, establishes, maintains, and regularly updates a project schedule on assigned projects

+ Manages communication, and distributes documentation between Eaton and its customers

+ Monitors, reports, and controls costs on assigned projects within estimated project margin

+ Reports, forecasts, and presents project financial activity to Eaton’s management

+ Prepares, distributes and follows through with project safety plan

+ Review customer specifications and bid documents and provide change orders when necessary

+ Assist with order-entry and hand-off to PSC engineers

+ Work evenings or weekends if necessary, to satisfy customers

+ Responsibility for project profit, loss, and forecast

+ Knowledge and skills to manage project scope changes

+ Ability to develop and maintain project schedules

+ Contingency planning expertise and knowledge

+ Ability to create, prioritize and maintain project action item list.

+ Ability to maintain accurate as-built documentation and punch-lists

+ Ability to maintain daily/weekly progress reports

+ Document control experience and expertise

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution OR minimum 10 years of field service, project management and/or proposal generation experience with electrical power distribution systems and high school diploma

+ Minimum 5 years project engineering and programming experience in power system applications.

+ Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

+ Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the work location(s) listed on the posting. No relocation is being offered for this position.

Preferred qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution

+ Professional Engineer qualification

+ Working knowledge of NERC/FERC, NESC, NEC, ANSI, NETA

+ PMP certified

+ Minimum 5 years of electrical industry related application engineering

Position Criteria:

+ The successful candidate must have a strong focus on customer satisfaction and a track record of successful project execution experience to deliver technical solutions to customers

+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must, with ability to be flexible to adjust to changing project conditions

+ Strong computer skills within the Microsoft Office suit (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)

+ Have experience with Program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) for the following applications, but not limited to

+ Main-Tie-Main Control

+ Main-Tie-Gen-Main Control

+ Paralleling Switchgear Applications

+ Have written and deployed complex power and control schemes including load shedding/ peak shaving schemes utilizing multiple distributed energy resources, Microgrid operations, breaker control schemes, SCADA system development

+ Have assist with factory testing and field start-ups

+ Have worked with test equipment and diagnostic instruments for automation and power management systems

+ Have used troubleshooting skills to fix systems that were not functioning properly

+ Have worked with relay logic

+ Ensure quotations have proper controls, metering and monitoring. Controls include. Power meters automation equipment (PLC/HMI), protective relays, load sharing, synchronization, etc

+ Select components and create bill of materials

+ Follow customers specifications and internal specifications for project quotations

+ Provide sketches, mark-ups and direction to Sales Engineers

+ Successfully complete and maintain compliance with the company’s safety program

+ Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license

+ Submit to periodic customer required background and drug screenings
