Research, evaluate and buy automotive parts for North American Automotive Purchasing Department.  Correlate cost and supplier selection with both regional and global design functions.  Correlate and select suppliers in support of stable quality and delivery for all America's manufacturing plants.

Essential Function and Responsibilities:

•             Develop, gain approval & execute purchasing strategies for assigned commodities & suppliers

•             Responsible for accurate & timely supplier selection & BOM maintenance

•             Establish logical new model cost targets

•             Achieve new model cost targets through effective supplier selection & negotiation

•             Responsible for achieving annual mass production cost improvement goals

•             Ensure accurate & timely quotation management

•             Effectively manage projects

•             Responsible for building effective supplier relationships

•             Research & monitor industry trends (sourcing, technology, market price)

•             Develop part & supplier strategies

•             Gain consensus on new model supplier selection

•             Maintain BOM system

•             Analyze cost calc. worksheets & issue discrepancies

•             Develop cost reduction strategies

•             Negotiate pricing with suppliers & process quotations

What you need to be successful in the role:

Knowledge of automotive commodity and industry trends

Experience with supplier evaluation & selection

Ability to develop & present a clear & concise proposal

Skilled in:

Basic math; computers (including E-mail, Excel and other Microsoft Office software); communication (verbal & written); cost analysis

Ability to:

Negotiate based on logic & manage costs

Manage customer & supplier relationships

Work in teams & build consensus

Solve problems and manage projects

Work independently with minimal supervision

Required Work Experience:  

3 years of Purchasing, Sales, Quality Control, or Engineering experience

Required Education:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (BSBA preferred)
