EHS Manager - York, PA

Plans, develops, implements and administers comprehensive EHS programs to prevent, reduce or eliminate liabilities and risks and to meet all federal, state, local and corporate regulations and requirements.  Monitors and revises the EHS programs, practices and procedures according to OSHA & EPA standards and ATG’s EHS policies and standards.  Develops, conducts or coordinates training programs for EHS.  Develops objectives and goals, which meet established plant and corporate goals, ensuring all necessary actions are taken to achieve these objectives and goals.

Job Description
  • Develops, implements, manages and maintains effective environmental, health, and safety programs and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Manages the implementation of ATG’s policies and standards.  Coordinates the installation and administration of the EHS Access Center software, tracking the facility evaluation process, along with injury/illness recordkeeping.
  • Provides/oversees training on EHS topics as required.  Audits these programs to ensure effective implementation and maintenance. 
  • Coordinates the administration of the Workers’ Compensation Program.  Communicates with medical providers and third party administrator to insure proper management of injury/illness claims. 
  • Manages the investigation of all accidents and other incidents with potentially serious consequences to ensure appropriate corrective actions are developed and implemented.
  • Leads internal audits of the facility’s performance against established EHS goals. 
  • Assists in the development, implementation and administration of required environmental and property conservation programs and procedures.
  • Assists in the review of materials for environmental consideration prior to initial plant use.  Oversees the storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals and other materials that impact the environment. 
  • Prepares and submits safety and environmental reports to regulatory agencies as required. 
  • Obtains and maintains all required environmental permits for discharge of hazardous waste, non-hazardous wastes, air emissions, wastewater discharges, storm water discharges, and recycled materials. 
  • Manages the wastewater treatment program to meet federal, state, and local discharge requirements.  Ensures necessary facility and equipment requirements are available to treat all industrial discharges and sees that treatment operators are trained to properly operate the wastewater system. 
  • Works with facility and corporate management to develop procedures for the elimination or minimization of potential waste streams, while ensuring existing waste streams are properly managed. 
  • Acts as liaison between local emergency response personnel, state and federal officials, and corporate staff personnel. 
  • Maintains appropriate files and records according to government regulations and internal policies.  
  • Leads monthly safety committee meetings comprised of both exempt and non-exempt employees. 

Qualifications

  • BS Degree or equivalent in technical field, preferable environmental/chemical engineering, chemistry or safety management
  • Five (5) years, minimum, experience in safety and environmental program management required with experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Federal, State and Local safety and environmental regulations and procedures
  • Formal training in environmental and safety regulations to include OSHA HAZWOPER, EPA-RCRA, DOT, SARA, CAA, NPDES, CWA and TSCA.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong PC and administrative skills
  • Certification as a Safety Professional (CSP) certification is preferred
