Clinical Laboratory Technician – San Diego, CA 

Shift:  1st; Tues- Sat 9AM-5:30PM

SUMMARY: The Clinical Laboratory Technician will accession, process, and store incoming clinical trial samples under the direction of the Associate Director, Clinical Laboratory Operations. The Clinical Laboratory Technician will also support the document control system for the CLIA laboratory. 


  • Support accessioning, processing, and sample management of clinical samples for testing in clinical trials 
  • Review all requisitions for missing information, enter applicable information into the LIS, and escalate issues as well as provide resolution in a timely fashion per standard operating policies and procedures. 
  • Assist with the archiving and storage of samples 
  • Perform quality assurance checks of samples 
  • Participate in other laboratory tasks such as data entry, handling deliveries, scanning documents, slide filing, etc. 
  • Ensure laboratory inventory maintains stock and support ordering and receiving of consumables and equipment 
  • Support implementation and maintain document control system 
  • Write EOPs, maintenance forms, and SOPs 
  • Design and perform experiments, collect data, and analyze results associated with automated liquid handlers 
  • Ability to execute experiments with limited guidance and supervision 
  • Create and support quality initiatives to maintain an environment of continuous improvement throughout the organization 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations and participate in all regulatory inspections 
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned 


  • Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced startup environment with a high degree of self-motivation and organization 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of, and ability to apply principles, concepts, practices, and standards of assay development and analytical methods validation and sample testing in a molecular diagnostics laboratory
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills 


  • Bachelor s Degree in Molecular Biology or related life science fields 
  • Experience in handling and processing of clinical samples Blood/Urine/Saliva
  • Understanding of basic concepts and principles in molecular biology 
  • Experience programming and designing processes on automated liquid handlers 
  • Experience with standard molecular biology techniques qPCR
