Twin Cities Hospital is a 65-bed hospital with a medical staff of over 150 physicians. It offers all private rooms and the areas first Certified Orthopedic Joint Replacement Program and Certified Spine Surgery Program, in addition to a state-of-the-art surgery center. Twin Cities Hospital also has 24 hour emergency services, a critical care unit, Certified Diabetes Education Program, and a variety of inpatient and outpatient diagnostic imaging and laboratory services. Located at Highway 85 North and College Boulevard in Niceville, Twin Cities Hospital also has the areas only hospital based Wellness Center, offering a variety of health related seminars throughout the year. POSITION SUMMARY:

To perform clerical and receptionist duties in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of Twin Cities Hospital.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Completes, executes and performs secretarial tasks such as, order entry, filing and organizing patient charts and medication orders.
  2. May have access to the POS room, clean utility or designated areas to transport and stock (inventory) of non scheduled drugs and biologicals to include but not limited to fluids, sterile water, normal saline, and irrigations.
  3. May have access to the Med room to obtain Accu-check equipment and supplies. 
  4. Demonstrates an understanding of patients’ charts, physician orders and nursing orders.
  5. Demonstrates knowledge and respect of patient rights to privacy and protection of patient confidentiality.
  6. Participate in the unit based Quality Improvement process.
  7. Organizes and communicates patient care activities to the patient and to the Licensed Nurse.
  8. Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements.
  9. Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.
  10. Promotes and displays a positive customer oriented demeanor to patients, visitors, staff and physicians.
  11. Communicates, interacts and participates in team work on the unit.
  12. Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system.  Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
  13. Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm.
  14. Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
  15. Maintains the unit in optimal operating condition by cleaning general work stations and stocking of supplies.
  16. Demonstrates an understanding and is proficient in the use of a computer and office equipment.
  17. Regular, punctual and dependable attendance.
  18. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:

  • None

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  • BLS required

     

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED: 

 

  • Unit Secretary skills preferred

  • Basic pharmacology knowledge, medical terminology preferred

  • Minimum of one year acute care experience preferred

 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

  • Read and writes Basic English

  • Knowledge of body substance isolation

  • Ability to use a computer, typewriter and calculator

  • Ability to listen, empathize and respond to patient, family, internal and external partners needs
