Job Summary and Qualifications

Part time (20 hrs. per week) Registered Nurse, Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (or actively working towards certification) at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center. Position requires prior experience with inpatient and outpatient diabetes management. This includes education for Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, diabetes and pregnancy, gestational diabetes, insulin pump therapy, nursing staff orientation/training/education, development of protocols/policies/procedures/order sets related to improving inpatient care and glycemic control. Experience with pediatrics is a plus. Collaborates with the other disciplines to manage and improve patient care. Must have the ability to manage an American Diabetes Assoc. certified outpatient program which requires experience with curriculum review, data collection, above average typing/organizational skills for maintaining program recognition requirements and strong critical thinking skills. 



What qualifications you will need:
Education and Experience:
      1. Masters degree in Nursing required
      2. Three years experience required

       

      Licenses and Certificates:

      1.Required: Holds current RN licensure in the State of Texas

      2.BLS/BCLS required 

      3.ALS/ACLS required

      4.Current certification as a TNCC Provider. (Instructor Preferred or completed within one year of hire)

      5.Current certification as a Provider in either PALS or ENPC (Instructor Preferred) or within 6 months of hire required per St. David’s HealthCare policy.

      6.NIH Required within 90 Days of Hire

    • Preferred: BLS instructor, ACLS instructor, PALS instructor, Certification in Nursing Specialty
