The Agarwal laboratory in the Stem Cell Program and Division of Hematology/Oncology at Boston Children’s Hospital seeks a highly-motivated individual for the position of Research Assistant. Our laboratory applies genetics, reprogramming, and genome editing technologies to patient-derived samples to study normal stem cell biology as well as the basis of stem cell failure and disease. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who aims to contribute to our fundamental understanding of biology, and also to see advances applied to human diseases. The ideal applicant will be a meticulous and self-driven individual, committed to learning and working to contribute to advances in biology and medicine. He or she will demonstrate exceptional organizational and communication skills, and be able to prioritize multiple tasks. This full-time position is available immediately.

This Research Assistant I will be responsible for:
  • According to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules, performs a variety of routine laboratory experiments and procedures, utilizing standard laboratory equipment, recording and checking results for completeness and accuracy.
  • Learning and executing a range of molecular biology techniques
  • Maintaining cell cultures
  • Preparing laboratory reagents
  • Maintaining/genotyping mouse colonies
  • Ordering supplies and lab organization
  • Recording and communicating data.

Requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in the biological or physical sciences. Master's degree preferred.
  • Technical knowledge and prior experience in molecular biology and cell culture techniques is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 year commitment
