Director of Athletics Holy Names University Holy Names University (HNU) is announcing an opening in Athletics for the position of Director of Athletics. HNU Athletics competes in the Pac West Conference, which is a member of NCAA Division II. This full-time position will be reporting to the University President. The Director of Athletics is responsible for oversight and supervision of the Athletics Department which includes (a) hiring, supervising and evaluating staff and coaches, (b) budgeting, (c) fundraising, (d) external relationships in the conference and the NCAA, (e) strategic planning and (f) supporting the overall enrollment at HNU. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION: Critical and essential duties of the position, but not limited to: Strategic Management of the Athletics Program according to HNU core values and guiding principles. Represent HNU Athletics in the Bay Area, the PacWest Conference and the NCAA. Support efforts to enroll students who fit the qualitative and quantitative goals of the university. Support university-wide efforts to promote student success. Partner with University Advancement to strategically organize fundraising efforts in Athletics. Provide leadership and oversight of head coaches and staff in all aspects of their programs, including goal setting, supervision, planning, recruiting, scheduling, and professional development. Proactively maintain appropriate departmental policies, procedures and practices to ensure a healthy and safe student-athlete environment. Serve as liaison to campus community and partners within the university. Travel as needed and provide on-site supervision to sports and other athletic and university related events. Maintain and ensure the athletics budget is within parameters set by the Vice President for Finance and Administration and the President. Maintain a current and strong commitment of NCAA compliance to include supporting the compliance officer and athletic trainers. Manages HNU's Graduate Assistant program. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred. NCAA Experience required, NCAA Division II preferred. Ability to maintain collegial relationships and a positive environment. Must be able and willing to drive university vehicles to include university vans. The ability to assess and approach situation creatively in order to reach resolution. Conflict resolution skills are valuable along with the ability to successfully build and maintain a strong and effective team within the athletics department.
