Overview:

Applications Engineers are responsible for building and maintaining AEE Solar’s knowledge base and for providing technical advice and engineering services to AEE’s customers and internal sales & management personnel.  As such, Application Engineers build informational tools that simplify and improve the accuracy of the sales quoting process, develop written and multimedia content for use in the catalog, online store as well as provide materials for use in external publications and training programs. Additionally, the Applications Engineers assist in the identification, evaluation, selection and on-boarding of new products and off-boarding of obsolete products.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and specific technical support and/or engineering services (Designs, drawings, quotes, etc.) for internal and external customers. 
  • Identify and/or evaluate/test new products that can increase distribution revenues
  • Create content used to train internal and external customers on the features/benefits of our products and solutions
  • Deliver product training and product onboarding orientation for sales and customer service teams
  • Participate in internal and customer-facing training activities including preparing curriculums and presenting live or recorded.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) plus 2 years of experience in the solar industry 
  • NABCEP certification a plus
  • 2-4 years previous design or engineering experience
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) as it pertains to solar PV – solar installation experience desired
  • Proficient with computer software programs including the MS Office suite: ERP or CAD experience desired
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be comfortable presenting to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to think critically and to solve problems
  • Excellent organizational and self management skills
  • Individual must be a self-starter and work with little or no supervision, this position requires continual analytical research methods, precise calculations and the ability to “think outside of the box”, as well being prepared for continual change
  • Position may be located Remotely but with periodic team meetings and trainings in the Sacramento area
