POSITION PURPOSE

The Staff Salesforce Software Engineer will be joining an agile SCRUM team and contributing to the software design, software development, overall product lifecycle and support for a Salesforce Case Management system. Drive consistent standards, tools, and best practices across development, testing, performance engineering, and/or application/production support functions with the overall goal of improving application reliability. Work closely with business partners and technical staff to create technical solutions that meet business and technical requirements. Apply principles, theories, and concepts and use methodologies, tools, documentation processes and test procedures to complete projects related to moderately complex software. Provide leadership in the development and implementation of short- and long-term technology plans and related policies and procedures. Collaborate and pair with other product team members (UX, engineering, and product management) to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutions. Align Technical roadmaps and strategies to Product roadmaps. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a core player on the product team and are expected to build and grow the skillsets of the more junior Engineers.


MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

70% - Delivery & Execution:
  • Collaborates and pairs with other product team members (UX, engineering, and product management) to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutions
  • Documents, reviews and ensures that all quality and change control standards are met
  • Writes custom code or scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring services, and test cases
  • Writes custom code or scripts to do "destructive testing" to ensure adequate resiliency in production
  • Creates meaningful dashboards, logging, alerting, and responses to ensure that issues are captured and addressed proactively
  • Contributes to enterprise-wide tools to drive destructive testing, automation, or engineering empowerment
  • Identifies product enhancements (client-facing or technical) to create a better experience for the end users
  • Identifies unsecured code areas and implements fixes as they are discovered with or without tooling
  • Contributes to foundational code elements that can be reused many times by a product
  • Contributes to meaningful architecture diagrams and other documentation needed for security reviews or other interested parties
  • Defines Service Level Objectives for product(s) to constantly measure their reliability in production and help prioritize backlog work

20% - Support & Enablement:
  • Fields questions from other product teams or support teams
  • Monitors tools and participates in conversations to encourage collaboration across product teams
  • Provides application support for software running in production
  • Proactively monitors production Service Level Objectives for product(s)
  • Proactively reviews the performance and capacity of all aspects of production: code, infrastructure, data, and message processing
  • Triages high priority issues and outages as they arise

10% - Learning:
  • Participates in and leads learning activities around modern software design and development core practices (communities of practice)
  • Proactively views articles, tutorials, and videos to learn about new technologies and best practices being used within other technology organizations
  • Attends conferences and learns how to apply new technologies where appropriate

Typically reports to the Software Engineer Manager or Sr. Manager.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Additional Minimum Qualifications:

Proficient in an object oriented programming language (preferably Java)
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States

Education Required:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

3 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 4 years of Salesforce platform experience with a focus on Service Cloud.
  • Demonstrates team leader abilities with a proven record of success architecting projects.
  • Leads team on Service Cloud engagements, spanning the standard project lifecycle from strategy/visioning through implementation/post-implementation support with responsibilities across business and technical work streams.
  • Maps functional requirements to Salesforce Service Cloud features and functionality.
  • Mentors other team members in customer service processes and Salesforce.com Service Cloud technology.
  • Extensive VisualForce, Apex Classes/Controllers, Apex Triggers development experience.
  • Deep understanding of the Salesforce product suite.
  • Web Services development or experience with the Salesforce API (REST/SOAP/MetaData, etc.).
  • Front-end development experience with Lightning Design System.
  • Knowledge of integrations, 3rd party integration tools, ETL with Salesforce.
  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies - Extreme programming (e.g. user story development, test driven development, and pair programming).
  • Contributes to knowledge growth of the Salesforce practice through documenting and sharing best practices. 
  • Conducts code reviews for ongoing projects to ensure high code quality and design patterns are followed.
  • Follows and understands new Salesforce product and technical capabilities resulting from product releases and acquisitions.
  • Demonstrates record of success building and sustaining business partner relationships using networking, negotiation and persuasion skills to identify potential new opportunities.
  • Demonstrates successful interactions with senior management.
  • Prepares and presents verbal and slide deck reports up to leadership on team's progress and challenges. 
  • Collaborates and coordinates dependencies across functional workstreams.
