Type: Contract
Assignment duration: 6-months to start (with possible extensions)
Seeking a mechanical engineer with experience in dynamic and/or high precision positioning stages to support the Battery Metrology Equipment Development (MED) group’s activities in dimensional non-contact 3D metrology. This contract role presents a hands-on opportunity to support feasibility determination studies under the group’s charter.
What you will need for this Mechanical Engineer role:
  • (BS) in Engineering or higher (Mechanical or closely related technical field).
  • Use high precision stage to move samples under scanner with a pre-defined motion profile. Study throughput, accuracy, etc. of different non-contact sensors.
  • Execute design of experiments in the laboratory using metrology equipment and in adherence with defined SOP.
  • Use apparatus/component/fixture with tight tolerances to accurately, repeatable and reliably place test sample.
  • Gather and analyze large data sets using statistical analytics software such as JMP or Minitab.
  • Report findings to other team engineers. Flag and troubleshoot anomalous test output.
  • Support other tool development tasks.
  • Quick learner with ability to understand testing requirements and protocols.
  • Hands-on familiarity with metrology and mechanical systems.
  • Candidate must be comfortable working in a lab environment under minimal supervision.
  • Pragmatic and results oriented.
  • Good communication skills and data compiling ability.
  • Understanding of or exposure to Lithium-ion battery technology is a plus.
  • Any background or prior experience in the field of optical metrology and sensors is a strong plus
There is no relocation budgeted for this position. If this position requires you to relocate you will be responsible for those costs.
