About the job

TI’s Medical Business Unit has an exciting opportunity for a Senior System engineer to join our team based in Dallas, TX. In this high visibility role you will be responsible for setting the strategy of TI’s Ultrasound portfolio, defining the roadmap and specifying the requirements of the next generation ultrasound transmit and receive devices. You will have the opportunity to work closely with the TI sales force, customer base, design and support teams during the development and release of the products.

 

 
Responsibilities may include:

• Be the key personal influencing and driving the long term strategy and investment direction for the medical ultrasound portfolio with TI. Research and set strategy for the receive and transmit portfolio, create new product definitions, formulate roadmap, develop business case proposals, product strategies and take products to RTM
• Analyze market trends in portable, cart and 3D ultrasound imaging market to identify future trends, identifying opportunities for improving performance and adding value to these systems
• Assess and negotiate system and IC development tradeoffs with design team and customers including but not limited to system partitioning, noise/power trade-offs, system link budget, interface definition etc.
• Build relationships with customers/field teams by closely interacting with them to identify and solve system problems with TI silicon

• Be the technical expert, responsible for product ramp up for the customer and for providing application guidance for newly introduced devices. Trouble-shoot customer application issues by lab testing, schematic analysis and other methods, as necessary
• Bring quick resolution to customer problems by interfacing across different functional groups such as design, product, test, packaging, marketing and sales
• Assist with Silicon system evaluation (HW, SW if needed) and related documentation both at IC level as well as system level. Create technical literature such as datasheets, application notes, user’s guides, EVMs, spice models, SCMs etc.
• Support and train central applications engineering, new hire engineers and sales organizations on new/existing products
• Relentlessly drive new design wins for new and existing products

 


Minimum requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

• Minimum > 8 years of relevant experience in Medical Ultrasound Market

• Strong understanding of analog/mixed-signal IC’s and their application

• Strong customer facing skills

• Hands on experience working with lab equipment and ultrasound hardware

• System level circuit modeling with EDA tools, SPICE, Matlab

 
Preferred qualifications:

• Good knowledge on Ultrasound imaging front end signal chain, transmit/receive architecture

• Understand system level design challenges, noise analysis and budgeting

• PCB schematic and layout understanding of high channel count premium ultrasound systems as well as handheld systems

• Experience with PCB design and challenges for High voltage (>100V) applications typically used in transmit chain

• Silicon characterization and measurement technique for parameters like noise, power, impedance, cross talk etc.

• Basic knowledge of FPGA development, microprocessor programming, USB interface

• Knows about high speed interfaces like JESD, LVDS, 12C, SPI, MIPI protocols

• Understand digital signal processing blocks like decimation, interpolation, filtering (IIR, FIR), IQ modulation, beam forming etc

• Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions

• Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery

• Demonstrated ability to build strong, influential relationships
