Our work enables humans to connect and communicate more effectively. As part of that effort, we have a need for aMachine Learning andComputer VisionStaff Engineer in theOffice of the CTO.

The successful candidate will work with the team addingmachinelearningandcomputer visioncapabilities to Poly'svideo,audio, and cloudofferings.

Position is in the Austin, TX, area, relocation available. Remote work for exceptional candidates possible.

Your day to day

  • Experiment,design, implement, ship, and support modulesempoweringPoly'sproductsby adding learning andvisioncapabilities.
  • Keep abreast of developments in machine learning andcomputer vision, through research into new trends,technologies,andalgorithms
  • Occasionaltravel (< 10%) may be required, for example for a customer visit or to attend a conference.
  • Engage with product and engineering teams to understand the needs fornew data-driven features and capabilitiesin future products, and work to deliver reusable softwareand frameworkstomeet these needs.
  • Work as needed with broad group of people (internal engineering, internal product and design teams, external customers, standards organizations, etc.) to both understand industry and product direction, and to articulate the vision Poly has forleveraging data and machine learning for our productsin the marketplace.

What you bring to the team

  • 3 - 5years' experiencein building user-focused applications or productsleveraginguser data toprovidean enhanced experience.
  • 3 - 5 years' experiencein machinelearning andcomputer vision technologies, including deep-learning technologies.
  • 3 - 5 years' of data analytics or data science experience.
  • Experience developing applications in one or moremachinelearning environments, e.g.,ScikitLearn, TensorFlow,PyTorch
  • Solid programming skills in Python and C++,comfortable working with various frameworks, e.g.,Numpy, Pandas,MatplotLib, OpenCV, virtual environments,model deployment SDKs.
  • Understanding of thedeep diveconcepts related to trainingmachinelearningand computer visionmodels, as well as inference using models at the edge.
  • Domain knowledge of video codec technology, cameras, or audio processing a plus.
  • Master'sdegree in computer science, a related engineering discipline, mathematics,physicsor similar arearequired.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with both a team working on projects, and with a broader engineering team that will use the results in a broad variety of products.
  • Ability to articulateand documentideas both to other technical experts and to non-technologist in the organization.
  • Able to apply systematic thinking, analytical approaches, and quantitative toolsto solving difficult problems, sometimes in areas where little prior work exists.
