Job Description:

With technical and construction capabilities, as well as financial strength, Parsons delivers infrastructure that incorporates sustainability and resiliency to serve the needs of communities for years to come and has been doing so in Canada, since 1964.   We are looking for a seasoned Sr. Project Controls Specialist, to join our Procurement team and participate in the delivery of leading edge infrastructure projects, as we expand our Edmonton team.  In this role, you will work with the Project Control Manager to ensure financial integrity of the project.   

The Edmonton Valley Line West LRT project is a 14-km long line extension of the greater Valley Line LRT in Edmonton, Alberta.  The scope of work generally includes complex staging; new facilities such as stations, OMSF, storage facility, and stops; elevated guideway; new structures; systems and communications installation; trackwork; testing and commissioning; and all other civil works associated with the scope.  It is the first LRT extension project using low-floor vehicle technology in Western Canada and will be a landmark LRT endeavor. The unique project challenges, such as cold weather climate and systems integration with an in-service LRT line, will offer team members a rewarding challenge and the opportunity to gain/build upon their LRT experience .  In this role, you will be required to live or relocate to the City of Edmonton, for the duration of the 5-year program.


  • Interface with their assigned Segment/Project Manager in construction to deliver all required Project Control support
  • Work with Project Controls Manager and Segment/Project Managers to provide accurate CTC/EAC and Key Quantity updates to ensure accurate status of schedule and client billing
  • Work closely with Contract Management team to ensure all impacts of changes are identified and considered
  • Assess the change impacts to project schedules and budgets
  • Develop baselines for budgets and schedules and forecast resource requirements;
  • Manage cost control, performance measurement, and change management processes;
  • Implement and ensure accurate performance measurements and prepare project reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis;
  • Analyze and submit reports to the client and management;
  • Business controls documentation, coordination and support activities used to manage day-to-day business and client audits;
  • Participate in development activities for continual improvement in the project control system & services;
  • Ensure compliance with Company and customer policies and procedures;
  • Complete change management assessments
  • Apply a change management process and tools to create a strategy to support adoption of the changes required by a project or initiative
  • Identify and coordinate follow up activities of changes
  • Effective communication of all the required activities and follow-up as a result of the scope changes
  • Work together with project management staff to ensure accurate and effective management of project budgets and project deliverables
  • Track and record all changes and follow-up to ensure that all field activities are completed as per the change management plan
  • Schedule updates on Primavera P6
  • Effectively communicate all issues and concerns to the relevant stakeholder groups
  • Lead by example by demonstrating the importance of fostering a safety culture


Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management or related field (or equivalent work experience)

Minimum 5+ years of related industry experience in project controls, forecasting and other project control reports

Familiarity with Primavera P6 is an asset

JD Edwards Enterprise, ProjectWise and 3D Modeling is an asset

Experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access) and the ability to work with multiple programs
