Job Description

As a Senior Scientist in Analytical R&D, Analytical Enabling Technologies, your efforts will be focused on enabling the discovery of new candidate molecules in our biologics and small molecule portfolios, including emerging modalities and bioconjugates.  Key deliverables will include the invention, implementation, and execution of analytical measurement technologies that may accelerate the pace of discovery research and influence molecular design.  The successful candidate must be able to collaborate in a dynamic, integrated, and multidisciplinary team environment which bridges early discovery research with a line of sight to clinical scale manufacturing.  We leverage a broad range of tools (e.g., NMR, spectroscopic, chromatographic, mass spectrometry, etc.) to influence selection of candidate molecules, enhance scalability and robustness, and to identify and contribute to new technology research and data analyses related to the discovery of novel therapeutics. Work performed in the NMR group includes, but is not limited to, structure elucidation and characterization, stereochemistry determination, mechanism elucidation, etc.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge in the discovery and development paradigms for pharmaceutical products, and proficiency in more than one of the following areas: NMR, chromatography, mass spectrometry, and lab automation. Strong fundamental knowledge in recent advances in analytical technologies is highly desired. Position Qualifications:


Education Minimum Requirement:  

  • Ph.D. (or expected by 2021) in chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, or equivalent with an emphasis in NMR techniques.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 1+ years' experience in NMR spectroscopy.

  • 1+ years’ experience in a second analytical characterization method (e.g., Chromatography, Spectroscopy, Mass Spectrometry).

    
Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • 3+ years of experience in structure elucidation with a proven track record of accomplishments in the area of small organic molecule structure elucidation (e.g., natural products, saccharides, pharmaceuticals, etc.).

  • Strong knowledge of organic chemistry, biochemistry or physical chemistry; experience in a medicinal or process chemistry environment is desirable.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of NMR instrumentation, methodology and software.

  • Chromatography (e.g. UPLC, cIEF, SEC, HIC, IEX).

  • Spectroscopy (e.g. Raman, Infrared, UV-Vis, Fluorescence, etc.).

  • Mass Spectrometry (structural elucidation, peptide mapping).

  • Experience with high throughput analytical methods.

  • Experience with monoclonal antibodies and/or bioconjugates.

  • Programming experience (e.g., Python, R, Mathematica, Matlab, Labview, etc.).

  • Lab automation and technology hardware / software integration.

  • Excellent track record of publications, posters, and speaking engagements.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and teamworking skills.
