Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the Payload Team. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here.
What You'll Get To Do:
Duties will include evaluation of mechanical designs, testing and validation of those designs. Application of extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
The successful applicant will:
• Determine tasking for yourself and others with minimum oversight
• Understand and apply system requirements
• Simulate and evaluate hardware performance
• Perform model validation through test and analysis
• Assist in all phases of the system lifecycle including requirements application, design, test, fabrication, and implementation
• Evaluate mechanical hardware performance
• Maintain design documentation and follow configuration management requirements
• Create technical reports and present technical information
• Lead and mentor team members
• Assistance in planning and scheduling activities
• Interface with Air Force Customer
• Interface with subcontractors

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
• A Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 9 years of experience; 7 years with Master's Degree; 4 years with PhD
• 5 years of ICBM or Aerospace experience
• Active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
• Active Top Secret Clearance.
• 3D modeling (CAD) experience
• Experience in any of the following
• Re-entry vehicles
• Nuclear Certified Design
• ICBM Weapon Systems
• Space vehicle design
• Design and analysis of mechanical properties
