This is an exciting Software Architect position for the Rail\-Trainborne embedded software product line\. Rail\-Trainborne software is an element within the Advanced Train Management System \(ATMS\) and uses on\-board train processing, navigation & control, and advanced digital communications to provide intelligence of trains on a railway system\. In doing so, a rail system can increase throughput and capacity by reducing distance between trains, increase reliability through better on\-time performance, and increase safety through authority and speed limit enforcement\.

In this role you will shape and drive software architectures, interfaces, and designs in accordance with long\-term capability roadmaps and integrated systems goals\. You will keep the pulse on emerging technologies and FOSS including how/when to take advantage of them\. You will provide guidance and direction to the Product Owners\. You will be part of the Agile management team steering Rail\-Trainborne\.

The selected Software Architect will support Trainborne Software, specifically the Train Control & Display \(TC&D\) Subsystem as an architect responsible for ensuring requirements are met and management and engineers understand your vision for the software implementation\. The successful candidate will directly contribute to the vision, design & delivery of real\-time safety critical software developed in Java and C/C\+\+, ensuring work is completed in line with technical, cost, and schedule constraints\.

The selected candidate will work with a robust geographically dispersed team throughout multiple phases of the software development life cycle \(SDLC\) including requirements, design, code, peer review, test, deployment, and maintenance\. The candidate will support daily scrum, weekly status, and software technical deep dives as required\.

**Basic Qualifications:**

\- Experience defining and leading a product team in support of the products’ technical roadmaps

\- Strong object oriented design and programming experience

\- Proven experience with the full software development life cycle

\- Experience with eclipse\-based integrated development environments

\- Experience with Unix based systems

\- Experience with distributed source code management – \(i\.e\. Git or Mercurial\)

\- Unit Test & Static Analysis Test Tools \(i\.e\. Parasoft, coverity, LDRA\)

\- Ability to collaborate with a team of developers

\- Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral

**Desired Skills:**

\- Experience developing in C/C\+\+, Java, and MATLAB

\- Experience with software development on safety critical or mission critical systems

\- Experience with MISRA\-C 2004 / MISRA\-C\+\+ 2008 safety standards

\- Experience with Embedded IDEs \(i\.e\.

\- Momentics, Workbench, or MULTI\)

\- Experience with RTOS \(i\.e\.\- Neutrino, VxWorks, or Integrity\)

\- Experience using JIRA for defect issue tracking/resolution

\- Must have a working understanding of LM software development plans and processes

\- Background in Agile Scrum and traditional waterfall based software development practices

\- Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related field, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 14 years or more of professional experience; or 12 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree\.
