Director II Technology, Service Intelligence

Additional position locations: Richmond VA, Mason OH & Indianapolis IN

As a Director Service Intelligence, you will be responsible for leading and managing the direction enterprise wide logging and monitoring tools.  You will be responsible for managing the enterprise Splunk environment, configuration and support in partnership with our security leaders as well as application and other support leaders across the company.  In addition, you will be responsible for the direction, implementation and support of event management and AIOps using ServiceNow machine learning and capabilities. Your experience with application performance management (APM) tools will allow you to lead the APM strategy and your team will be responsible for implementing and supporting the environment and onboarding activities.  This position directs multiple tools (ServiceNow ITOM, Splunk, CA APM v10.7/v11, and others) with broad scope and strategic business impact.

As the Director, the functions that you will support are critical to the 24x7x365 capabilities that our Member, Providers and Brokers – not to mention our Associates – demand and expect from Anthem.


Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Interfaces with key Information Technology (IT) solution vendors,
  • Develops strategies and facilitates performance measurement plans to optimize vendor and associate performance and outcomes.
  • Develops Technology Plan and Forecast for an enterprise application/enterprise-wide tools.
  • Oversees strategic planning, budget development, and management for a single large cost center, contract compliance, and any necessary integration of government regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures disaster recovery and business continuity plan are implemented, monitored, and updated on a recurring basis.
  • Delivers and supports system solutions that support the operations of their functional areas on a 24x7x365 basis.
  • Plans and executes annual projects.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with key technical business partners.
  • Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.


Skills needed to thrive in this role:

  • Requires BA/BS in Computer Science or related field; 8+ years of IT management experience or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. MBA preferred.
  • Strong experience with ServiceNow – ITOM (Event Management, AIOps) required.
  • Broadcom DX Application Performance Management (APM) experience required
  • Broad knowledge of the function/area being managed.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Splunk certification is preferred
  • Health insurance industry experience preferred.
