Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, and service, seeks dynamic applicants who can engage and inspire a diverse student body as an adjunct instructor in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts. This one-semester position ranges from August 25-December 18, 2021.  This position entails teaching two courses, Graphic Design I and Graphic Design II, contingent upon course enrollments. Graphic Design I is an introduction to fundamental graphic design skills and principles. Projects are designed to develop idea generation, problem solving and technical skills. The use of type, image and visual style as components of communication will be introduced. Graphic Design II emphasizes a deeper understanding of and ability to work with typography. The focus is on understanding the structure, functionality and creative possibilities of type. The design process is heavily emphasized in both courses. Adjunct Instructors are responsible for course planning and instruction. In addition, adjunct faculty are responsible for student evaluation, and timely and accurate submission of required paperwork related to instruction. Qualifications: Candidates must: Hold an M.F.A. in Graphic Design or related field.  Specializations: Ideation, Typography, Layout, Illustration, Basic Graphic Design Principles Have proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop. Have teaching experience. Have an ability to work with college students who are majors in Studio Art and non-majors from a variety of disciplines.
