Requisition Number: S_210289 Department: FM&P Building Systems Maintenance-1004 Description of Work: Perform installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, access control systems, building security systems, fire alarm systems and HVAC controls. Apprentice-level electrician will have appropriate supervision. Interpret and use schematics and blueprint drawings to complete the installation and troubleshooting of electrical conduit systems, wiring and device termination in a commercial construction setting. Ensure compliance with regulations including all applicable Building, Electrical and Fire Codes, University and departmental standards and guidelines. May be required to be available after normal hours of operation and reached by phone 24/7. Required to carry a personal cellphone for business use. Position may be hired at a higher level to include foreman duties depending on operational needs and candidate qualifications. Foreman level position includes training and overseeing others and confirmation of scope, schedule, and budget requirements on all work assignments and coordinate changes in a timely manner. Depending of the level of assigned scope of work, projects may include leadership of large improvement projects with complex scopes, increased responsibilities and elevated budgets. Must have at least one year of experience with electrical and low voltage system installation. Ability to comply with University and departmental standards and guidelines. Must have the ability to comprehend complex and technical information, have strong documentation skills, be well organized, and able to manage and make progress on multiple tasks at one time. State of Nebraska apprentice or journeyman electrical license required. Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements. Must be available 24/7 by cell phone to assist in campus emergencies and be available for regular rotations on the weekend and after-hours on-call schedule. Preferred Qualifications: Associate's degree in electrical, electronic or HVAC /R or related preferred. Experience with installation, maintenance and repair of access control systems, building security systems, HVAC controls, and/or fire alarm systems preferred. Commercial experience preferred. Demonstrated experience with researching, reading, interpreting, working with and ensuring compliance with blueprints, specifications and regulations including building, electrical, and fire code. Demonstrated experience training and overseeing others and the ability to supervise, motivate, develop, and coach both new and mid-career professionals in skilled and unskilled trades helpful. Experience as job foreman on large construction projects with complex scopes, increased responsibilities and elevated budget desirable. Basic computer skills and the ability to perform computer tasks such as time entry and emailing plus advanced computer skills with experience in EMCS , access controls and/or fire alarm system interface programs preferred.
