Job Description:

This position functions as Receptionist and Assistant to personnel in the Wellness Center for Health and Counseling. The position reports to the Office and Medical Compliance Coordinator of Health Services                 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Greets students and ensures all paperwork is completed.

Recognize a student in distress or in need of immediate care.

Schedule appointments and confirm patient information is up to date.

Answer phone and complete call or transfer to appropriate person.

Knowledge of HIPPA regulations when transferring records to another higher education institution or medical office upon request.

Maintain all active and archived medical records.

Scan all incoming medical records into EMR document files.

Data entry into Point and Click

Scan and input current insurance documentation for every patient visit.

Assist and maintain immunization records for New York State compliance, both paper form and EMR.

Account for money transactions.

Maintain confidentiality of all records and events.

Understand and utilize medical terminology.

Control schedule for Physician Assistant, Nurse and Nurse Manager.

Train and Supervise work study students

Train new employees on Electronic Medical Records and Office Policy and Procedures.

Maintain and report patient statistics.

Provide coverage for the Administrative Assistant to the Counseling Center for school breaks and vacations.          

Requirements:

EDUCATION:

High School diploma or equivalent.

PREREQUISITES:

 Minimum of 3 years experience in a medical  office, hospital or other medical setting.

Business courses or experience in office work duties such scheduling appointments, composing letters, and phone calls.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Computer competency in Word, Excel, Datatel and Point and Click.

Detail oriented with good organization skills.

Tactful, friendly and professional demeanor.
