Lead Buyer OE

This position is responsible to operationally lead a buying team to support the OE function. The role will require individuals to be familiar with the complete range of buying activities including spend, negotiation of costs, engineering and quality processes.

Lead a sub-commodity portfolio within the scope of the Supply Chain Management Processes by managing the following:

+ Sub-Commodity and negotiation

+ Supplier escalations to achieve timely delivery and price.

+ Expedite supply to meet operation plans and customer commitments

+ Represent purchasing function in customer escalation meetings

+ Supplier evaluation and selection aligned with the Strategic direction of supply base rationalization

+ Supply chain solutions, including vendor managed inventory (VMI), supplier consignment stock etc.

+ Logistics – lowest total cost of supply

Align incorporation of Eaton supplier agreements/terms

Your key deliverables:

Manages the Buying team and working closely with the Suppliers, Operations, Engineering, and Quality functions to ensure supply is delivered on time, to cost and the right quality.

Supports and works closely with the engineering and quality functions to ensure permits and concessions are closed to enable timely supply to support operations.

Implement sub-commodity strategies in line with Corporate, Divisional, Site, SRM and Mfg initiatives to improve supply chain efficiencies and reduce the total cost of supply chain management.

Works with the Site Supply Chain leads to manage relationships with suppliers.

Develops a sub-commodity supply base which creates and sustains a competitive advantage, utilizing global market exploitation, leveraging spend, and leveraging of technologies.

Provides sub-commodity support to New Program Teams as required to meet Target Costs and establish Program cost models.

Drives savings initiatives in line with profit plan and overall business objectives for sub-commodity portfolio

Monitors/reports on process improvement and cost-out projects

Trains business-wide Supply Chain personnel on Strategic Sourcing processes.

Ensures appropriate performance measure (Quality, Cost and Delivery) of supply base and feedback of results

Qualifications

Are you?

+ Knowledge of materials planning systems (MRP/ERP) requirements and order generation process logic

+ Thorough understanding of Supply Chain Management operational concepts surrounding production planning, inventory control, purchasing, logistics, stockroom operations, and shipping/receiving

+ Understanding level of technical drawings and specifications to support the buyers reviews with Engineering and Quality.

+ Excellent communicator, negotiator, interpersonal and team management skills.

+ Ability to lead cross-functional process improvement teams

+ Strong understanding of sub-commodity processes as well as special processes.

+ Knowledge of the commodity and sub-commodity marketplace, including in Low Cost Regions

+ Ability to analyze, identify and implement opportunities and corporate initiatives for improvement

+ Ability to coordinate cross-site, multi-functional teams.

+ Ability to develop sub-commodity strategies and priority setting for the Supply Chain initiatives

+ Develop and lead an implementation team to deliver the sub-commodity strategies

+ Knowledge of industry specific quality registration schemes (i.e. ISO9001, ISO/TS-16949, AS9100, etc.)

+ Strong planning/project management skills

Strong PC application skills. Including complement of Microsoft Office Software

The role requires ability to lead a team to deliver on leading KPI’s as well as focus on supplier management and development. Ability to work within a matrix procurement organization is essential.
