Position Summary

As a Training Specialist at Parker, you will coordinate training activities and resources necessary for educating team members to manufacture products. Your current skills and knowledge will be an asset in this role as you interact with support departments and team members.

Essential Functions
• Ensure all safety polices are instilled by developing the team’s Safety 360 and “Culture Self-Check” environment
• Coordinate standard work training of employees enrolled in the learning of production processes, such as inspection, machine operation, and assembly, etc.
• Confer with support functions (Safety, Quality, Customer Service, Scheduling, HPT, Lean and Human Resources weekly to coordinate training activities within the Training Area
• Confer with Value Stream Managers weekly to understand job opening priorities, coordinate operations and exercises within the area to support those priorities and deliver recommendations for placement trainees
• Plan and establish work schedules and assignments to meet plant requirements
• Model use of PDCA with problem solving, team improvement, and day by hour boards to improve results
• Inspect materials, products, or equipment for defects or malfunctions
• Observe work and monitor indicators to ensure operations conform to production or processing standards
• Conduct Team Member training in safety procedures, quality requirements and equipment operation and procedures
• Keep records of employee attendance for payroll administration
• Teach and Interpret specifications and job orders for department team members
• Requisition materials and supplies from production Value Streams and warehouse
• Track inventory levels
• Submit maintenance work orders to ensure proper functionality of equipment
• Maintain daily operation data such as time, production, and cost records and assist with preparation of management reports
• Escalate team member performance/behavior problems and/or complaints to management
• Set-up and adjust machines and equipment
• Assist Value Streams with production needs based on demand for training area and leadership needs in the plant
• Drive HPT involvement to create a continuous improvement, employee empowered environment

• Understand and Promote Proper Housekeeping and Sanitation Through 5S System Application
• Encourage Team Members to Stop and Fix Concerns in Order to Get Quality Right the First Time
• Understand and Teach All Aspects of The Quality Plans for products produced within the Training Area
• Read, Understand and Teach Bill of Materials
• Read a Tape Measure to a 16th of an Inch
• Utilize Calibrated Equipment & Devices to Assess Materials and Products
• Complete and Review Documents
• Promote a “Productivity, but not without Safety and Quality” Culture
• Lead Training for All Associates Assigned to the Training Area
• Communicate Effectively with and Train All Team Members
• Lead by Example
• Complete Mathematical Calculations
• Effectively Use a Computer, Computer Program (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Kronos)
• Learn and Execute All Duties for Production Tasks within the Training Area
• Learn and Execute All Duties of the Value Stream and Group Lead Positions and Function as a Backup
• Lead and Coach High Performance Teams
• Ability to Understand, Teach and Track Production Metrics
• Understand and Promote Parker Values and Parker’s “Winning Culture”
• Model Servant Leadership to Team Members
• Communicate and Recognize Team Member’s Contribution Level and Development Needs
• Lead a Positive Team Atmosphere by Facilitating Natural Team Meetings, Assigning Team Member Tasks, and Coordinating Support Needs.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
• May be required to lift up to approximately 35 pounds
• Must be able to stand at workstation for an extended period
• Must be able to use both hands in a repetitive motion
• Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, fumes and dust particles
• Must be able to travel throughout the facility to obtain information needed to perform job functions

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required
• Bilingual English/Spanish, required
• Post-Secondary Education, preferred
• HPT Leader and Coach experience, preferred
• Front Line Leader Training, preferred
• Manufacturing & Leadership experience from multiple areas represented in the Training Area, preferred
